Feyre: We decided that if, Cauldron forbid, anything happens to us, we would like Nesta and Cassian to be Nyx's god parents
Nesta: That is great news! Nyx! When something horrible happens, you'll be all mine!
Rhysand: It really is an 'if' situation
Nesta, taking Nyx: All mine!

“Rhys wasn’t raped”

Rape is both emotional and physical abuse and anything that is not 100% consent is rape. Being forced to have sex with someone out of fear is rape. Being forced to have sex with someone for “benefits” such as going outside is rape. Being forced to have sex with someone to prove your loyalty to them is rape.
If you’re put in any sexual situation where you are forced to do things and not because you genuinely want to, that is rape. Rhys did not 100% consent to his “relationship” (if you could even call it that) with Amarantha. He literally talks about how he was suicidal for a while because of what was happening to him Under The Mountain but it was all consensual? He was just a sex worker?
Two of the most ridiculous points this person makes is one, saying rape isn’t emotional abuse. And two, insinuating that being a “sex worker” made everything that happened to Rhys completely fine.
Sex workers are taken advantage of all the time. That’s one of the most dangerous parts of it. Being a sex worker does not always equal to consenting to everything you do. It’s not this glamorous job where you’re just consenting to everything and having sex for the fun of it. Therefore slapping the term “sex worker” onto Rhys as a way to invalidate his decades of sexual abuse is nothing short of demented.
And rape is most definitely emotions abuse. A lot of the time rape is used to control someone as seen with Amarantha and Rhys. She wanted to punish him because his father killed her friend and she wanted to prove his loyalty to her. It was literally about breaking him down and that’s why he still has trauma from it. You can’t look at the mental scars Rhys has because of Amarantha and boldly claim that wasn’t rape. You can’t read him clearly saying “she made me fuck her” and boldly claim that it wasn’t rape.
This person is not a child so there’s no valid excuse for this mentality. It’s just blatant vile ignorance and a nasty soul.

no yk what? you guys are soo right.
feyre really does deserve better than nesta n lucien. she was treated like shit by them. lets see, nesta literally exposes feyre's sexual thoughts in front of tamlin and lucien, threatens to break her mind, makes her dress in skimpy clothing and dance and sexually assaults her, feeds her wine when she doesn't want to drink, twists feyre's broken bone in her arm to force her into a bargain she doesn't want, intrudes on her thoughts,
and lucien trauma dumps on her, hyperventilates when confronted with actions, mocks her at every single given opportunity, objectifies her and compares her tits to apples in front of someone she just met, grooms her into thinking his tyrant behavior, her cultural appropriation etc are a-okay,
nesta literally hides an extremely significant magical bond that affects feyre mentally n physically from her, gets her friends to hide it too, treats feyre's siblings like shit, makes her fight for an engagement ring and purposefully endangers her,
and lucien applauds when feyre commits war crimes, makes feyre wear the same clothes she was assaulted in and cosplay a whore and get fingered in front of a whole ass city, when feyre gets pregnant at 21 and the pregnancy goes wrong, nesta hides how dangerous it is from feyre and tries to control the outcome of the pregnancy and literally tells everyone other than feyre abt the dangers of the pregnancy other than feyre-
OH NO YALL. i mixed it up. all of those things were done by rhysand wow what a shocker i am befuddled bamboozled tricked

How it started *Under the Mountain*:
Feyre: “So that’s the love of my life.”
Rhys: “Really? Tamlin? That guy?”
Feyre: “Yeah. Thoughts?”
Rhys: “And prayers. Girl what-”
Where it went *Early ACOWAR*:
Feyre: “So this is my mate.”
Lucien: “Really? Your mate is that guy?? Rhysand???”
Feyre: “Yeah. Thoughts?”
Lucien: “And Prayers. Girl what-”

I think probably the saddest thing about Feyre is that she genuinely has no friends of her own. Her "friend group" was loyal to her husband hundreds of years before she was born and have proven more than once that they still defer to him over her. The one friend she might have had (Lucien) has been completely estranged from her. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Feyre in ACOSF is living ACOTAR Feyre's worst nightmare.

I can't believe it's canon that after years of poverty and not being able to buy anything for herself, Feyre now has a mate who has no problem with showering her with gifts and presents just because he wants too.

Imagine being R4ped, SA and tortured for 50 years. Apart from your family, isolated and alone. Having to put on a mask to make everyone hate you but deep down you’re just trying to survive. Imagine being locked up in a cell deep within a mountain; where you’re tortured, made fun off, mentally and emotionally drained, day by day you’re losing your humanity and eventually you die only to be brought back to life as a strange new being.
Imagine going through all of that hard journey; losing yourself, losing the ones you love, fighting for a chance to be happy and once you finally get your happy ending it’s invalidated. You dont “deserve” it. You’re villainised and hated. Since other characters have gone through “more” trauma or deserve their happy ending more then you deserve yours. Or to make another character seem better, your entire story is undermined. Your trauma minimised compared to theirs.
Idc what this fandom says; Feyre & Rhys went through literal hell. They had to make tough choices and decisions but it was all for the ones they loved. They deserve to be happy & don’t deserve the treatment certain parts of the fandom are giving them.

One reason I don’t think I ever cared for a single SJM romance was because of how disjointed they feel. Considering their personalities, I genuinely do not believe they would work in any other universe.
SJM gives most of her main romances mate bonds, which while I get is the genre, kind of undermines their mystique. She literally uses a different version of the “forced proximity” trope (the men are usually doing the forcing) on all of her couples.
If you hand me Rhysand and Feyre, Cassian and Nesta, probably Aelin and Rowan too, on seperate platters I would never guess that they would mesh well. “That’s literallly how writing and character growth works blah blah blah” I don’t care. That’s not what SJM did, none of them grew in that way. She made them hate each other then pause and go “wait you’re kinda cool” *lip bite* then kiss.
They all feel like trauma bonded couples to me who just have to work it out because their god said so. None of them feel like they could ever happen organically, and that takes away from their credibility to me.
AND I DO LIKE ROMANCE I PROMISE
This post isn’t inherently anti any of the couples despite what the tags say. I just know someone will bite my head off, and I don’t have a sadistic god secretly making them my soulmate 💔

chosen lovers fighting against fate and the gods and societal expectations, ready to burn the world for one another and their happiness together, everything else be damned >>>>>> another reluctant mating bond with forced proximity and the eventual, and I suppose what would be inevitable, acceptance that one does not truly have freewill nor does one’s heart belong entirely unto themselves but rather to the corrupted eddies of a higher being that cares not for its children but rather for the sustenance it can devour from their couplings

If the mating bond was always supposed to be the end all be all for Elain’s book…
Why have Feyre question why Elain wasn’t mated to Azriel?
Why introduce to the concept of ill-fitting mates or rejection of the mating bond?
Why have Elain distance herself from her mate and grow closer to Azriel?
Why have Azriel and Elain have feelings for each other at all?
Why have other characters pick up on Azriel and Elain’s feelings/chemistry?
Why have Elain and Azriel almost hook up?
Why have Azriel question the cauldron?
Why write the cauldron being corrupted and insist that everyone reads the book where it’s confirmed before the next ACOTAR?
Why have Azriel be the one to learn about the corrupted cauldron?
None of this does anything plot wise for any other endgame other than Elriel.
If the mating bond is the end all be all for the next book, Elain will have to forego all of the avoidance and “that entitles him to my time” and decide to give her mate her time and affection; either never learn the truth about why Azriel seemed to have rejected her or learn the truth and somehow decide to throw away everything building between the two anyway; learn about the corrupted cauldron and do nothing with that information or Azriel and Nesta never tell Elain what they learned about the cauldron and it actually not be an important plot point at all; and get over Azriel so she could be with her mate.
An Elain accepts the mating bond centric book would feel contradictory to everything that came before it.

We got so little Feylin spicy scenes but even when they were rushed or later on overlaid with their relationship dissolving THEY WERE SO HOT
The calanmai scene? LIVES RENT FREE inside my head
The first time they had sex and him RIPPING HER NIGHTGOWN? Omfg🧍🏻‍♀️floored
My man lived between her legs. He was FERAL.
I am sorry everyone but if we are getting a toxic boyfriend my vote is on Tamlin. Feysand’s scenes never hit me the same and hes actually so much more toxic but lets not dwell into it now
ALSO… you know the iconic High Lord’s meeting.
“Tamlin only dragged that claw lightly down the carved arm of his own chair—as he’d once dragged them down my skin. He smiled as if he knew precisely what memory it triggered”
This wrecks me. The tension in that scene IT WAS SMOLDERING.
